When I first stepped into the wild, wonderful world of media back in 1968, I was blessed to have a world‑famous journalist take me under his wing. He gave me five rules that shaped my entire life: always tell the truth, always write with a positive light, be kind to everyone you meet, if you can’t write something good, don’t write it, and, his favorite, always write under an assumed name (Ghost Title), because the world is full of jealous (and sometimes crazy) people.
He told me that if I lived by those rules, I just might become a lifer in this business.
Well… 58 years later, here I am, still writing, still loving every minute of it!
So now I’m turning the question to all my friends in the music and entertainment world:
What advice, what rules, would you give a talented newcomer who wants a long, peaceful, and successful career in the music & entertainment industry?
I’d love to hear your wisdom!
